Mix sugar, syrup and water in saucepan. Cook until mixture reaches soft-ball stage.

Whip egg whites until very stiff and dry, then add syrup mixture in a small stream, beating all the time until mixture begins to thicken.

Stir in pecans, continue stirring until creamy.

Pour in buttered pan. Cut into squares when cold.
